Field Notes

Description:

The leaves are light green and modified into pitchers, the top of the pitcher being yellow with reddish edges. The inside of the pitcher is filled with liquid that attracts bugs. The bugs then drowns in it, and the plant eats the bugs. The flowers hang upside down.

Habitat:

Found in a bog on a WMA, the area was recently burned with a prescribed fire, and the pitcher plants love fire and grew back very nicely.
