Field Notes

Description:

Heron-like, mostly greyish-blue in colour. Seemed to be almost a purple colour near the head. About 60cm in height. Shorter neck than most herons I've seen. Might be a Little Blue Heron? Blue patch on the bill near the head.

Habitat:

Saw this individual on a swamp tour in Lafitte, USA. Very dense bushes and trees. Swamp like channel. Lots of fallen tree to perch on. Lots of over-hanging vines. Shallow swamp with lilypads and floating plants.

Notes:

Saw this fellow wading later on but didn't get a good shot.
