Field Notes

Description:

This common moth is 4-5 cm. It uses Mesquite, Prosopis, as a host plant. Despite its striking markings, when on the ground with rocks and leaves it disappears.

Habitat:

Resting during the day on a chair arm under the Inland Sea Oats. There are Mesquite trees in the green space around the Lake Lewisville behind my house.
