Field Notes
Description:
Small larva. Somewhat resembles a caterpillar or a slug. Translucent body with white, black and yellowish markings. Two small orange anal spiricles at hind end. Feeds on small, soft-bodied insects like aphids.
Habitat:
Suburban backyard garden on a Rose-of-Sharon that was infested with aphids.
Notes:
Not the first time I have seen this species. Tribe Syrphini.
