Description:

I was able to observe these caterpillars for four days only. I was hoping to find their pupae, but they vanished after the leaves of the Ficus plant (pic #6) they were eating were all gone.

Each red-headed caterpillar is about an inch long. The 2nd picture was taken July 8, which shows a yellowish tinge at the larva's body. The other pictures were taken July 7, while the plant pic was on July 5.

The frequent Asota moth seen in our backyard is the Asota caricae (Snouted Tiger Moth) - http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/21499116.

Habitat:

Backyard garden.

Yes, it is indeed Asota caricae. That's the only Asota moth that I have been spotting in our backyard. :-) Thanks again!

:-) i have seen Asota caricae caterpillar before in some moth forum , i don't remember exactly where, otherwise wouldn't be that easy.
