Hi musicalsky! Awesome mantis nymph! However, the Carolina Mantis has a scientific name of Stagomantis carolina, not Stagomantis limbata. I don't think one can identify mantis nymphs to a species until they are adults. This is the case for many other insects as well. Perhaps it would be best to leave this as "unknown" with a note that you do know it is a mantis, but are looking for a genus or species. Thank you and I look forward to seeing more of your spottings in the future!
Very cool find! This is a nymph (not full grown). It's hard to say which species this is (disambiguation is not a species, I removed it for you). Nymphs can be difficult to identify. I love finding these. I haven't seen any yet this year but I hope to find some soon! This would be a nice addition to the Marvelous Mantids of the North East mission: http://www.projectnoah.org/missions/15738247 Here is a link that you can look through at different Mantids. There are three commonly found in your area, European Mantis, Chinese Mantid and Carolina Mantis. http://bugguide.net/node/view/342391/bgpage Hope this helps.
