Field Notes

Description:

The fronds form a vase-like structure around the stalk. The sori are round, with a peltate indusium. The stipes have prominent scales.

Habitat:

Found in sandy soil, these ferns created the understory beneath some oak trees. I think it is such a pretty place with the fern understory!
