Description:
Small larva with varying shades of gray, white and tan. Sparse bristles. Somewhat resembles a caterpillar or slug. Predatory, feeds on small, soft bodied insects like aphids. Subfamily Syrphinae.
Habitat:
Suburban backyard garden, on a Rose of Sharon that was infested with aphids.
Notes:
Different looking syrphid larva than ones I have seen previously.
