Yea, if they were that bit it probably was Ctenopharyngodon idella. I was just hesitant because it does look like a live-bearing fish species like ceejayalyssa suggested.
logan,a rough estimate would be 6 to 10 inches.
Maybe, but then again you said it was pretty small. Is it possible for you to go back and grab another picture?

It's kind of hard to tell. The scales look a lot like a carp.
