Tile Horned Prionus
Prionus imbricornis
36.0653, -80.3066
Field Notes
Description:
Large, 3" long insect with very large, segmented antennae and a segmented body. Common name: Tile Horned Beetle.
Habitat:
Apparently, my front porch after a thunderstorm! My neighbors have giant, broadleaf oak trees and he probably crawled over from there. The rain and the porch lights probably enticed him.
Notes:
Kept in a ventilated jar for a while, then released back into the night.
