Field Notes

Description:

This Spider was approximately 1 1/2 - 2 cm long. A dark black and brownish red color, with dark brown-black and orangey-red striped legs. The bottom of the abdomen is a yellowish color with a brownish-red X shape, the bottom half of it shaped around the spinneret.

Habitat:

Found in my house.

Notes:

This spider was in my bedroom, late one evening. I caught it and put it in a container with a lid. A few minutes later, I opened the lid to take a photo. To my surprise, it had quickly made a web across the container and was crawling back and forth on it's web. I have to admit, when I saw it's underside, it made me nervous and I was a little shakey. I have never seen this kind of Spider before. I managed a few shots before it decided to try to climb out. To fast. My other shots are blurry... I let it go outside.
