Description:

A cute caterpillar with a pair of reddish hairy horns on its head and another pair at its end. About 6 cm.in length. Melanitis leda is a common species of butterfly found flying at dusk. The flight of this species is erratic. They are found in Africa, South Asia and South-east Asia extending to parts of Australia.

Habitat:

Spotted in our village's open area surrounded by weeds and cogon grass

Noel, does Melanitis atrax also fly in/around Quezon City? I ask because it too is said to be common on Luzon, but its caterpillar remains unknown. Thanks.
