Field Notes

Description:

Medium-sized Nymphalidae butterfly (wingspan ~5cm). Wing edges are largely wavy, top color overall orange, with dark brown spots and brown band on the edges of wings, bottom color overall greyish-brown.

Habitat:

Alpine prairies of Yellowstone National Park.
