I do that sometimes, too, Dianne, get home with nice photos, but not the one I need to made a good identification. Sigh. Luckily, plants don't run off ...

Thanks so much. I agree, it does look more like the Plantago lanceolata. I do wish I had taken photos of the entire plant. I just fixated too much on the flower.
