Field Notes

Notes:

I found this little baby in my parking lot the other day. I approached in my car and it didn't move. I parked and walked over and the little baby barely flew. Knowing that this cutie was in an unsafe place in the middle of the parking lot, I scooped it up and put it back in a tree. I wasn't sure what kind of bird it was until I heard a very unhappy Say's Phoebe piping up near by! I saw the little baby and the adult together the next day which made me happy. Stupid babies, parking lots are not good places to take a nap!

Yes, this mother had 4 successful fledglings! They stayed around for weeks and it was wonderful to watch the entire family! They liked to hang out on my neighbor's hammock!
I would have done the same. I am sure you save him from danger and I hope he will hang out by different places now :-)
Thanks Yuko! Me too! I was worried that the Mother would not find where I put the little babe. The Mother called and cried for over an hour! She has been dive bombing me and my dogs ever since! These guys are smarter than we give them credit for!
I'm glad that the baby was safe and could reunite with her mama!
