Description:

The Painted Turtle is 4 to 10 inches long with a top shell that is dark and smooth without a ridge. Its skin is olive to black with red orange, or yellow stripes on its extremities.

Habitat:

The Painted Turtle lives in slow-moving fresh water and eats aquatic vegetation such as insects and fish.

Notes:

This turtle was sighted near South Tamarac Lake.
