Field Notes

Description:

This spider was about 3-4 cm in length. Its legs were blackish brown with white strips running horizontally across the legs. Its head and thorax were bright red and somewhat hairy. The abdomen was ecru with tiny red dots covering it.
This spider spun a large, regular, web; hence the name.

Habitat:

This was found during a mostly dry part of the year, in a secondary rainforest on a sunny day in Singapore, near my school. It was given partial shade by medium-size trees above it.
