That would be wonderful, dear @Tapshanov, and thank you very much ...I'm leaving this Saturday and I'll be back in a week, so I hope I'll me able to snap lots of pics of plants, animals and places :)
Yes it's same here, Keeper of the house, but i know that its healing power is real because i have seen it ,,,, It is great that you will go on a trip, and if you have some nice photos and stories maybe we can create one article for www.OurColorfulPlanet.com ... have a nice day and safe traveling :))
As far as I know, in Greece we don't use it in any medicinal way...There are some myths about it's everlasting protection of the house (thunder protection) and family (love/care/good health), and I know for sure that some other Sempervivum species are protected by law, like the Semprevivum balsii, and lots of people cultivate those species, because "it's good to have it around", wich I find great :) In Epirus region, whenever they build a new house/structure, they always plant the top with some young Semprevivum plants...I'm leaving for Tzoumerka mt next week, and I might be able to bring photos and a couple of plants :D http://stalikez.info/fsm/semp/site/grece_gb.php
Wow tnx!!! I must tell you this is very interesting ... my grandmother told me, that one drop of the leaf juice from this plant will remove any ear pain in 10 - 15 minutes, it is kind of a old traditional Macedonian cure :)
So it belongs to the Crassulaceae family (as the Aeoniums), and it's a Southern Europe native :) And check this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sempervivum_tectorum#Folklore_and_herbalism
I think I found smthng, and guess what: I have the exact ID :) http://tenerifeislander.hubpages.com/hub/Tenerife-herbs-the-Canary-Islands-Houseleek-is-an-Aeonium-species
Tnx. Despina! Do you know the healing power of this plant?
Aeonium, probably an hybrid between A. nobile x A. cuneatum (white form) http://www.xericworld.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=654&stc=1&thumb=1&d=1280513594 https://es.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Archivo:Aeonium_cuneatum_01.jpg
