Field Notes

Description:

Momma Killdeer has a tawny-colored back and characteristic striping around the neck.

Habitat:

Large, open, grassy field , city park, along a highway

Notes:

This lively lady was very upset that our little league team chose her nesting ground to practice. She has sat here for a few weeks now despite the boys. She had four teal, speckled eggs to start and now has two. We have not allowed the kids to disturb the eggs, so not sure what happened to them.
