Field Notes

Description:

This species of wasp is brown in colour with yellow strips on thorax and abdomen, and its body length is about 20mm. When at rest, the fore wings fold longitudinally. This is the least common of the paper wasp species in the Brisbane area. It belongs to the family Vespidae.

Habitat:

Found under the eave of a roof-covered picnic table, in our local park.
