Field Notes

Description:

Large Moth/butterfly. Maybe 6 in across. Main color is an orange/brown. Spots on the front wings. Large blue/yellow spots on the hind wings. Comb antennae.

Habitat:

Found this huge moth in the scrub oak mountains to the east of Tooele, Utah. There were some pines growing but mostly gamble oak.

Notes:

Saw it first at night but it was still there in the morning. It had it's wings up and would shake. Looked sick, dying?
