Field Notes

Description:

Family: Lyceanidae > Subfamily: Theclinae > Tribe: Eumaeini. Easily the most common hairstreak species in North America, the Grey came be found throughout and has a overwhelming number of host plants it can choose from. This one was nectaring on a Cut-leaf Coneflower (Rudbeckia laciniata) but of course when I stuck my camera in his face he retracted his proboscis and started moving the hairs on his false head.
