Field Notes

Description:

Large eared owl, finely barred belly. He got in a chicken pen of my brother's neighbor. Joe was asked to remove him or he was going to be shot. The young owl killed 3 chickens.

Habitat:

Found throughout the US and likes wooded areas that produce rabbits and mice.

Notes:

My niece, Jo Lauck, was there when Joe rescued him and took these pictures. She gave me permission to put them on Noah. Joe keeps up the tradition of the Long family to rescue those animals and birds that others do not know how to handle.

what a lovely spot from Indiana!!
Is awesome that somebody takes care of their rescue. Otherwise they would end up being killed by the farmers. I hope that he will not stay around the chicken pens!
I have always wanted to see one of these little guys-thanks for sharing! Sounds like Joe does an awesome job!
