Could be. Those appendages at the front look angled and shaped for crab pincers. Just can't see enough evidence of enough legs though. And the shells look 2 parts like beetles. The rear tarsi look beetleish... and the flattened 'elytral' margins on the rear part are reminiscent of reduviidae (assassin bugs). Let's hope one of our Aussie experts sees it.
It was on the sand in the dunes Mark. I'm inclined toward crustacean but I cannot find anything like it yet!
Did you find it in the sand or on/near some plant?
Wow!! A little bit of everything in that one. I'm keen to find out what this is.
