Field Notes

Description:

Also called a Marbled Teal. This is a rare and endangered species with just a few scattered fragments around the Mediterranean and perhaps a couple of hundred in Spain. This one appears to be a male as the female is almost identical but has a yellow base to the bill. This is the first time I have seen one of these in this location and my first reasonable photograph of one.

Habitat:

Coastal marshes
