Notes:

Came pretty close to stepping on this young one. I was standing off a path on a phone and I looked down as they full stomached young rattler lay sleeping (or resting). I had just past this spot and never noticed it.

We have Pygmy Rattlesnakes here, and the full grown ones you can see their rattles shaking but there's no noise haha. Very cool find though!

Oh it was also still early in the morning so it looked like it was cold and sleepy. Well until my friend nudged it with her hiking pole cause she wanted to hear it rattle. Still a young one so it didn't have a loud rattle.

We only have one species in our area. There is one in north east Cal and most of the rest of the species are down south. Those are way more dangerous then ours.

I am jealous of all the rattlesnakes y'all have out west! I guess lucky for you he had a full stomach and probably wasn't feeling very aggressive since you were so close!
