Description:
A male flower fly of the Family Syrphidae that I haven't seen before. It has dark wings, a banded abdomen, chocolate brown thorax and red-brown eyes. The mouthparts were interesting and extendible.
Habitat:
Came to an ultraviolet light in the garden, San Cristobal de Las Casas, 2,200 meters.
