Habitat:

A pond in Golden Gate Park where one can work on their waterfowl. The Coots seen quite habituated to people - no doubt looking for inappropriate bread hand-outs....

Great shot Liam! I've provided you the scientific name so you can update your spotting to include it. This will remove this entry from the unidentified list. :)
I love their feet! They look like water plants when swimming....
Great pic! Amazing feet indeed....lovely!
Never seen the feet that close up and unobstructed..cool!
Congrats Liam3! This spotting has been featured as a PN fun fact: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10152978733435603&set=a.10152575329380603.958289.10150120463815603&type=3&theater
Sure. I'm an illustrator for SF Rec and Park and was thrilled to get the amazing feet of this guy.
WOnderful photo showing the feet!!!!! So cool! May I download a copy for my classes? I teach nature programs professionally, and this would be a PERFECT shot of foot adaptations! Please?
Hi Liam3, can you please read through our FAQs http://www.projectnoah.org/faq and at least complete the habitat field with details of the habitat where you made the spotting as without this information the spotting is of much less use to our researchers. Loss of the right habitat along with the inability of some species to adjust to it is a major cause of the decline in the numbers of many species so the more data you can give us the more can be done to overcome this loss.
