Field Notes

Description:

This beautiful green caterpillar was on my rhubarb plant and I suspect he may be one of the reasons why the leaves have holes in them! Pretty spring green colour, slight paler markings all over in a grid pattern. Photo 1 is its head, photo 2 its tail. Took me a minute to figure that out! Know nothing about caterpillars, but intend to learn soon!

Habitat:

Rhubarb patch of semi-rural garden in the Pacific Northwest temperate rainforest, Maple Ridge, BC.

Species ID Suggestions

Comments (1)

I am not 100% sure if this is the right ID. My caterpillar seems to have a fine pale checked pattern, which this one does not. Any ideas?
