Field Notes

Description:

A powder blue colour covers the thorax and abdomen of male Blue Skimmer Dragonflies, however, the females are a brownish-grey colour in appearance. They have a body length of 4.5cm and a wingspan of 7cm.

Habitat:

This species is located throughout Australia and spreading to Tasmania.
It can also be found in New Guinea and New Caledonia. The Blue Skimmer Dragonfly inhabits still and flowing water rivers.
