Description:

Grasshopper was about 25mm long

Habitat:

Mostly rural area.

Notes:

The larvae of this large mite is parasitic on grasshoppers. Adults are predaceous. Mites ID'd at BugGuide by Ray Fisher. 111

Yeah, I was rather stunned to find this. Grasshoppers have never been my favorite order of insects, but I couldn't help but feel bad for it. Like having an itch you can never scratch.
Keith this is an excellent spotting and a great picture! I feel sorry for the grasshopper though!!
