Santa Ana Tussock Moth - caterpillar

Lophocampa annulosa

Comments (6)

Definitely a Lophocampa sp., but not Annulata. I am tending towards Lophocampa maroniensis, but for that I would need to see the color of the legs and head. There are a lot of different Lophocampa around and it is very hard to separate both, adults and caterpillars from each other. I would go with Lophocampa sp. as scientific name. With that we are on the safe side.
Hi, it would be great if you could add this spotting -and others of insects from Costa Rica- to the mission "Insects of Costa Rica": http://www.projectnoah.org/missions/10022250
It looks like the caterpillar of a Tussock moth ,but I don't know which species .
