Description:

Family: Saturniidae, Subfamily: Ceratocampinae. (Royal Silkworm Moths). Total length: 35 mm. Wingspan: 63 mm. Female. Common moth that comes to light readily. Russet/ Purple FW has a pink outer margin beyond PM line. White spot on each wings. Dense, hairy orange body. Adults do not feed. Hosts: Red oak.

Deciduous woodlands
