Field Notes

Description:

Yellow toad with dark stripes down the back forming an hourglass shape. Speckled with warts, elliptical pupils and yellow eyes.

Habitat:

This poor guy was in my mother's pool skimmer but usually they prefer to burrow in sandy soil. A black spur on the hind feet allows them to burrow backwards into the ground.

Notes:

This is by far the most handsome spadefoot I've ever found. I'm used to them being a duller yellow or brown.
