Field Notes

Description:

This is a Jamides philatus osias Röber, 1886, of family Lycaenidae, subfamily Polyommatinae, tribe Polyommatini. Philippine distribution: Luzon, Marinduque, Mindoro.

So glad this lycaenid approached the yellow alder plant while I was taking pics of a katydid. This is the first time I've seen and spotted this Jamides species. My previous Jamides spotting was that of J. alecto manilana - http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/14568303.

Habitat:

Backyard garden, spotted on a Yellow Alder flower.
