Great series Glen! The American Ornithologists Union uses the common name Common Loon for the Gavia immer, so that is the most accepted name for it in North America. I see that your reference uses Great Northern Loon, but it is not the officially recognized name for it in North America. Not that this changes the awesome spotting you have here. Love it!!
