Description:

A smallish irridecent beatle with a large abdomon/carapace with a very small thorax and head comared to body. Large jaws and reddish head.

Habitat:

Colorado Rocky Mountains

Notes:

Was spotted on gravel.

Species ID Suggestions

Blister beetle

Lytta deserticola

Pretty early date for this species. A clearer image would go a long way to confirming or refuting my ID. Certainly in the family Meloidae at any rate.
