Field Notes

Description:

The Eastern chipmunk is the only living member of the genus Tamias.

Habitat:

All chipmunks except the Siberian chipmunk are found in North America.

Notes:

This little one was scurrying away from me as I inched closer to get a picture in the dark forest. It was gathering food near a fallen tree. It's funny how the flash made his eye shine, giving him a mean look.

Note, you can also see Indian pipe or Corpse plant in the background (those white stalks).
