Also, I found this link yesterday: http://fieldguidetohummingbirds.wordpress.com/2010/09/06/rufous-vs-allens/ From the photos I posted, there is no way to actually distinguish between the two species - need a clear photo of the flared tail feathers to tell adult males apart, females and juveniles are nearly impossible to distinguish. Didn't know that when I posted the spotting; at least we can confirm it is one of the two.
They are the same individual, though! :)
