Description:
The name "mayapple" refers to the May blooming of the apple-blossom-like flower. Only one lemon-colored fragrant flower, which is under two large, deeply lobed leaves. Lives in rich wooded areas and damp shady clearings.
Habitat:
A bunch of these mayapples were spotted in a wooded area at our county park.
