Field Notes

Description:

Medium sized barbet. Green feathers on body; broad white stripes above and below the eye. No coloured bare skin around the eye as seen in Brown-headed barbet.

Habitat:

This one was spotted on a shade tree overlooking the tea bushes at Coonoor, Nilgiri Hills, Karnataka, India.

Notes:

There wee three of these birds and they called loudly and in a non-stop fashion till I finally spotted them hidden in the foliage. The moment I aimed my camera they flew away. I got just two shots.
