Field Notes

Description:

1-3 inch wingspan. Light grays to dark tan colorations on anterior wings. When opened, anterior wings reveal black posterior wings with white edges. Anterior wings have eyespots in center.

Habitat:

Southern Missouri. Spotted at night only.

Notes:

These began appearing mid June. Very passive and dont seem to mind being handled. They come out after dusk and disappear before dawn.
