Description:

Medium sized wader, reaching approximately 60cm in length, usually seen hunched and hiding during the daytime. Portrayed here is juvenile - mainly dark grey-brown bird, darker on the back with white spots, and striated below. Yellow orange eyes and yellow-greenish legs.

Habitat:

Shallow open wetlands in and around the Bird Park Villars-les-Dombes, in a marshy area of Dombes; France.
