Field Notes

Description:

The sticky cap of the yellow-stemmed mycena grows on a yellow slimy stem. Caps are conic, dark yellow to light olive brown and typically 0.4 to 1 cm in diameter. Gills are adnate, fairly broad, nearly white to yellow. Stems are elastic, 3 to 8 cm, with a slimy surface. Strong yellow at first, fading quickly in sunlight to yellowish white

Habitat:

Saprobic on coniferous wood. Can be found in deciduous and coniferous woods, but it is also found in heather and agrid grasslands.

Notes:

Spotted in a mixed forest near Gortel, Veluwe, Holland. (sources: see reference)
