Description:

Aoplocnemis tasmanicus, no common name. Approximately 1 cm long. In the weevil family.

Habitat:

Coastal heath. Prefers poa grasslands.

Notes:

Endemic to Tasmania.

Thanks Lori, looks like there are plenty of other Aoplocnemis species in Victoria though - shame there are no pictures to compare with.

Hey Lori, do you know if this one is also found in Victoria? I can't find much info on them but this looks very similar to one of my spottings I've been trying to ID: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/15886142
