They are - that's why I guessed at beetle larva!
Awesome! I would love to find a Skipper caterpillar. They are so very unusual looking.
Thanks Tamar - I'm sure you are correct as we see loads of silver spotted skipper butterflies here.
This reminds me very strongly of a Skipper caterpillar. Do you have any other views? The closest I have found is the Silver-spotted Skipper: http://bugguide.net/node/view/453472/bgimage http://bugguide.net/node/view/327206 http://bugguide.net/node/view/403 I am not totally sure that is the correct species but I have not found a closer match at this time.
