Field Notes

Description:

Tufted, herbaceous perennial, with clusters of blue or purple flowers with darker veins. Produces a clump of tubers which can be eaten. Anthericaceae family. Endemic to Australia, NSW, Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia.

Habitat:

Found in grasslands, or grassy understorey of sclerophyll forests. On sandy or clay soil.

Notes:

Spotted in the incredibly beautiful and diverse Woorndoo area, on the Victorian Volcanic Plain.
