Field Notes

Description:

A group of about 15 individuals. Mostly female and youngsters. The reason why they come up in the Fjord in the summer is still unclear. The scientists think that it's for shelter as well as feeding.

Habitat:

Belugas are whales usually found in the Arctic. It is very uncommon for them to be found as south as the St-Lawrence gulf but, yet, they are here, to the delight of tourists and scientists.

Notes:

I am sorry for the poor quality of these pictures. I do still think that i should post this spotting, because of the importance of having these whales in this area.
