Field Notes

Description:

Size and look-alike of Common starling, except for much darker color - uniformly dark metallic blue to black, with all spots and other decoration absents. Bill bright yellow and legs pink-orange in adult (lower left corner of the pic), both features dark in juvenile birds (upper right corner).

Habitat:

Seen in urban setting, on a stadium of Marrakech. Its distribution is confined to western Mediterranean, where it is a resident breeder around urban centers.

Notes:

Sorry for the poor quality of the pic - this was a lifer for me, and the only encounter during our stay in Morocco.
