Description:

I found it growing out of an Eastern White Pine (Pinus strobus).

The leaves look the same as an Impatiens, I'd go with it! :)
Probably Impatiens gnomes.
Yeah I'm kind of guessing it was planted. No idea who would have done it though. It's kind of tucked out of the way.
That's pretty neat! Do you think it was planted? Impatiens is sort of an odd volunteer.
I actually just went back and looked again. It is not a pot. It's actually an exposed section of the inner bark of the tree. I agree with you that this is probably an impatiens.
Is that a pot stuck in that tree? The plant looks like an Impatiens.
